L&R Distributors is looking for a talented packaging designer to develop art for retail packaging. We are in search of something with experience in the Health, Beauty, or Cosmetic industry. The ideal candidate is passionate about design, has experience in the industry, and can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment. This is an in-house employee position for local applicants only. Portfolio and resume required, showcasing packaging design skills. 

Salary: up to $65,000 (Hybrid, 4 days on-site)
 
Qualifications:

  • A high level of accuracy and careful attention to detail in everything you do is critical 

  • Flexible and able to work well under pressure, sometimes pivoting from task to task in a given day to meet short deadlines 

  • Must be self-motivated, professional, organized and possess excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Punctual, dedicated, hardworking, and accountable, with a strong work ethic 

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively. 

  • 3 + years in-office experience working as a graphic designer in consumer packaging design 

  • Must have prior CPG packaging experience 

  • Must have worked on packaging from initial ideation to final production 

  • Must have strong knowledge of printing techniques and fully understand proofing and printing process 

  • Physical comping experience and 3D modeling experience a plus 

Job requirements: 

  • This position requires both creativity and production capabilities 

  • Packaging design, PowerPoint presentations, product photos & editing 

  • Collaborate with product development, product marketing and packaging to create highly desired designs 

  • Acute awareness of trends in the marketplace and how it relates to the brand 

  • Demonstrates flexibility and is able to excel in ambiguous situations 

  • Displays ability to leverage knowledge of organization and industry 

  • Recognizes and acts quickly on short-term opportunities consistent with the company’s strategic direction 

  • Preparing press-ready files, critical review of color proofs, tracking project status and timelines 

  • Sales team support - detailed PowerPoint presentations. High quality 3D product digital renderings and photography, hand-making packaging comps & mock-ups 

  • Communicate status updates to Creative Director on a regular basis 

  • Ability to take direction and work independently, but also able to collaborate with a team 

  • Learn and implement FDA requirements for cosmetic packaging 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Concepting new artwork designs based on given direction with quick deadlines 

  • Creating detailed dielines from scratch for new packaging 

  • Creating necessary digital, physical mockups and presentations for buyers 

  • Prepress art files for print using printer guidelines 

  • Must have experience working closely with production/printing vendors domestically and overseas — ability to communicate with them regularly and run QA as needed 

  • Proofing - reviewing proofs at all stages, tracking all revisions, organizing & maintaining proof files 

  • Creating, maintaining spreadsheets for print production tracking 

  • Photographing product samples & parts for mockup use 

  • Organizing & maintaining art server 

  • Updating and maintaining the company website 

  • General assistance on projects as needed 

Software requirements: 

  • Proficient skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Office including PowerPoint
